Surgical Discharge Instructions
1) $$patient$$ had surgery today and was under general anesthesia, expect some sleepiness. Please supervise access to children.
2) Please keep $$patient$$ in a climate controlled environment tonight with supervised access to stairs or potentially hazardous situations.
3) You may offer a small amount of water first then if $$patient$$ handles this offer small amounts of food frequently. If $$patient$$ vomits please withhold all food until morning. If teeth were pulled, please offer water soaked dry food or canned in addition to their regular diet.With extractions, a small amount of bloody drool is expected.
$$patient$$ should be eating and drinking and acting normally within 24 hours, if not , please call us 970-882-7100 during office hours.
4) Please monitor the incision site for redness, swelling, and/or drainage.
5) Please leash walk $$patient$$ pet or confine in the house for the next 7 days unless instructed differently.
6) Please make sure that $$patient$$ does not lick excessively at the incision site. If the incision becomes red you may need to purchase an Elizabethan collar that we or pet stores carry or try a T-shirt or a Baby Onesie or sock to cover the incision.
$$patient$$ needs no suture removal.
If medications are sent home, please administer all medications as directed starting at dinner tonight
